The Dental department offers consultations in dental and oral related diseases. The department is limited to advanced therapy in periodontics, endodontics (root canal), orthodontics, prosthodontics, restoratives (crowns), and oral surgery.

R. MICHAEL PEAK, DVM, DAVDC
Peak_MichaelDr. Michael Peak received the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1994. He was in private clinical practice in Gulf Breeze, Florida from 1994 to 1998. In July 2000, he completed a formal veterinary residency at the Dallas Dental Service Animal Clinic in Dallas, Texas and became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in March 2001. In 2000, he received the American Veterinary Dental College/Dr. Peter Emily Outstanding Resident Award. He has been on the Board of Directors for the American Veterinary Dental College since 2002, and is the past President of the American Veterinary Dental College. His special interests within veterinary dentistry are endodontics, oral surgery and prosthodontics. He has published articles and book chapters related to veterinary dentistry, and has lectured as well as given instructional laboratories all across the United States.

ASHLEY B. OAKES, DVM, DAVDC
Oakes_AshleyDr. Ashley Oakes received the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 1989. In 1993 she completed a three-year veterinary dentistry residency program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 1994. While in Louisiana, she held the position of Clinical Instructor of Veterinary Dentistry at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, and practiced veterinary dentistry in a private practice dental referral clinic. After completing her residency program, she moved to Colorado where she held the position of veterinary dentist for a nine veterinarian AAHA certified small animal hospital and referral practice in Boulder, Colorado. She joined Tampa Bay VeterinarySpecialists & Emergency Care Center in 1995. She also provides continuing education in veterinary dentistry to veterinarians and their staff through her business Bay Vet Consulting.
